Inspire the Next Generation of Future-Ready Leaders

At Junior Achievement of New Jersey, volunteer groups from companies, employee resource groups, chambers of commerce, fraternities and sororities, professional associations, and other community organizations play an important role in preparing young people for careers of the future. By investing their time and talents through JA, these groups connect students with real-world experiences, diverse perspectives, and opportunities that help build the skills and confidence needed for future success, while strengthening communities across New Jersey.

How It Works

Complete the Volunteer Inquiry Form, and a member of our team will schedule a time to discuss your volunteer goals, time commitment, and the options we have available that fit your schedule.

We will coordinate the drop-off of all course materials (if applicable) for review and preparation ahead of the volunteer day.

Show up and have fun! Our staff will be on site to support your team’s needs.

*We encourage participation in our group volunteer activities through a financial contribution that helps support our programs.

Opportunities for Groups:
  • JA BizTown: At the JANJ Education Center in Edison, NJ, volunteers support a small group of students as they navigate their roles and responsibilities within one of fourteen businesses in our simulated community.
  • JA Career Speaker Series: Help students discover careers and career pathways by participating in a JA-hosted school event. Volunteers share their career experiences, industry insights, and the journey that led them to where they are today.
  • JA Classroom: JA classroom volunteers lead JA-developed lesson plans in K–8 classrooms. After being matched with a classroom and attending training, volunteers deliver engaging, easy-to-follow lessons while bringing the learning to life through their own experiences.
  • JA Finance Park: At the JANJ Education Center in Edison, NJ, volunteers guide a small group of students through a hands-on simulation where they create a personal financial plan and make real-world financial decisions.
  • JA Inspire: Share your organization’s mission, industry, and career opportunities at a JA Inspire career exploration event. Through interactive activities, demonstrations, and meaningful conversations, volunteers help students discover career pathways, workplace skills, and possibilities for their future.
  • JA Job Shadow: Host students at your workplace and give them an inside look at your organization, industry, and career opportunities through interactions with employees and hands-on experiences. JA Job Shadow opportunities require a financial contribution to support the student experience.
  • Women’s Future Leadership Forum: Volunteers engage with high school girls through small-group mentoring, career conversations, and skill-building activities that help students build confidence, make connections, and prepare for future education and career opportunities.
What is the typical time commitment?

Volunteering with JA is designed to be flexible and manageable. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Classroom Experiences: 5-6 hours + 2 hours to review and prep learning materials in advance. Volunteers can expect to spend a day in the classroom for most JA In a Day programs.
  • JA Education Center Experiences: 6 hours.
Volunteers will be trained on site before student arrival, and there are no materials to prepare in advance.
